Introduction
Pacific maple is becoming very popular in joinery, furniture, and cabinet work. It is suitable for planking and ribbing in marine applications.
It is an ideal choice for general building and construction purposes like bearers and joists, staircase materials and flooring. In addition, Taun is said to have excellent acoustic properties.

Construction: Internal staircases, flooring.
Decorative: Furniture, mouldings.

Density: 495-975 kg/m3 air dry
Strength groups: S5 unseasoned; SD5 seasoned.
Joint groups: J3 unseasoned; JD3 seasoned.
Shrinkage to 12% MC: 4.1% (tangential); 2.4% (radial)
Durability above-ground: Class 4
Durability in-ground: Class 4
Lyctine susceptibility: Untreated sapwood is susceptible to lyctine borer attack.
Termite resistance: Not resistant.
Preservation: Very difficult to treat.
Seasoning: Dries slowly with little or no degrade.
Machining: Moderately easy to work machine and has a slightly rough finish.
Fixing: Can be glued and nailed efficiently.
